Nik Fackler is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning filmmaker that was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his directorial debut "Lovely, Still" (starring Martin Landau, Ellen Burstyn, Adam Scott and Elizabeth Banks). The LA Times called the film "an impressive debut" and Fackler as "sensitively attuned to his actors". Fackler then pivoted into the documentary space with his follow-up film, "Sick Birds Die Easy", winning Best Picture at the Poland International Film Festival. Throughout the past 15 years he has produced and directed over 20 music videos for various artists including Sia, Bright Eyes, The Faint, and his own band, Icky Blossoms. His upcoming projects include "Bey0nd Us" with 20th Century Studios, "Codetta" with Lars Knudsen attached as EP, and "Uncle Gabby" based on Tony Millionaire's iconic Sock Monkey series of books and comics.

Andrea Joy - Artist - Mother - Change Maker

This session was an absolute JOY. Andrea is such a positive force. I had such a great conversation with her hearing about her passion and the new art she’s creating. We talked about the importance of joy in our lives and stepping into who we are. I learned so much during this session. It felt refreshing being able to talk with another entrepreneur and chat about what it’s like being a person of color in the creative field. I am so grateful for Andrea and so honored that she asked me to photograph her and her daughter Evelyn.

I had a great time working with Actor/Model Connor Fee. Connor and I met up to chat and get coffee. I had asked him what characters, movies, and tv shows he was inspired by to maybe work in to the idea of his portrait session. Connor had mentioned he liked Peaky Blinders, Thriller movies, football films, etc so we decided to play around with some of those ideas. We came up with a fighter from the early 1900’s, Peaky Blinders inspiration, Varsity Football Player, Cowboy Western, and more. Here are a couple of images from the session.

Rachel D. Fox is a woman that can do anything. Her website describes her as A woman of many things summed up in one: a positive change advocate. And that she is! Rachel has an incredible energy about her. We talked about her passions, her family, and what drives her passion to be a change maker. She has a vast base of knowledge ranging from sales and marketing to training, professional and personal development among others as described on her website. She is a keynote speaker and has served on the boards such as the YMCA of the Greater Omaha, New Leaders Council, RISE, and Remedy Road. Together with her husband, she is the president of Fox Flooring, a flooring and remodeling company. She can literally do anything! Rachel is incredibly inspiring and is such a bright light in the world. It was an incredible honor to be able to spend time with her and to take these portraits.

Kathy Wolfe is a professional voice actor with over 20 years of experience in radio and TV commercials, narration, and IVR recording. I was so excited for her to come into the studio for a session. She is so kind and her joy is so contagious! We had such a fun time during her session playing around with different looks. I would definitely suggest hiring Kathy if you are looking for a talented voice actor and actor in general. She is a delight to work with!

“ Ang R. Bennett is an Artist, curator, model, and non-binary queer activist. They are the creator and host of ohMahaART!, a podcast that aims to strengthen the visual arts in Omaha through well-informed conversations with visual artists and makers. And has won several awards for their contributions to the art community, including two Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards - one for Outstanding Emerging Visual Artist and another for Outstanding Non- Traditional presentation for the curation of Unapologetic Me: A celebration of Black, Queer Art. They were a 2020 Young, Black and Influential Award recipient for Creativity.

Their work examines identities they hold as queer, Black, and gender through academic text and societal depictions. In addition to their only solo exhibition, colored Black., at Petshop Gallery in 2020, Ang’s work has been displayed in Split Gallery, Hot Shops Art Center, Apollon Art Space, RBR G, and Michael Phipps Gallery. In June 2022, Ang won a national competition where their artwork was selected to go on the inaugural membership card for the Stonewall National Visitor’s Center, set to open in New York in June 2024. The original artwork will be on permanent display inside the center.

Ange made their theatre stage debut in November 2022, as the lead character of Fiona who transitions to Adrian in the Voices in Alliance production of Rotterdam, a play written by Jon Brittain. “

Prior to Black & Pink National, Tena served as a founding member of REVEL, a cornerstone of the Omaha LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive-space scene. With Heartland Pride, she created space for Omaha to invite in national talent. Most recently, Tena’s work with Inclusive Communities led to more accessible educational programming. Always looking to expand her skillset, Tena recently completed the American Express Converge Academy and is in the current Nonprofit Executive Institute. Tena brings a wealth of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion experience to Black & Pink National. She is excited to bring her passion for trans and queer youth of color to this role, and expand services for system-impacted youth on a national level!”

I had a wonderful time at Fruit of Levine, a farm run by Mike and Jody. I went to visit with the staff from Coneflower Creamery to pick lavender and other ingredients that they would be using in their new ice cream flavors. The farm was so beautiful and the connection and love that Mike and Jody have to the place is heart warming. We were welcomed in with cookies made with their ducks eggs from the farm and then taken on a tour of the place. It was a little piece of heaven and Mike and Jody are what make it so special. The amount of care they put into their farm shows how much they love what they do. It was a good reminder of how important it is to support local farmers and restaurants.

Adam Bassing is an Actor based in Omaha, Nebraska.

I had the wonderful opportunity to met and photograph Adam and talk a little about their life and their journey in acting. Adam is a great human and we are very lucky to have them in our community!

"As You Are" – a new multimedia portrait work by artist Joshua Foo – presented as part of The Union's Pride 2021 programming. The portrait series features 3 members of Omaha's BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community: Katera Brown, Eli Rigatuso, and Sarah Rowe.

Our hope for this series is that it serves as a platform from which we might be able to expand the conversation about life at the intersection of being BIPOC and LGBTQIA+. That, through the arts, we are able to shine a light on the challenges and celebrations of our LGBTQIA+ community. We are also hoping to create opportunities for others to see themselves in this space, in the arts, in our community. Our goal, at its simplest, is to support LGBTQIA+ community members, with an emphasis on QTPOC, and amplify their vibrancy/beauty within our community.

I had the pleasure of photographing Dan Vollmer of The Barnwood Store. Dan is incredibly talented. He first started making Barnwood trays which came along with a description of the history of the barns they came from which make them so special. He now does all types of woodworking for clients and sells unique pieces of wood also for home decor and interior design. Check out The Barnwood Store and follow them on social media!

Amy Mcgillan is the PenFed Senior Vice President of the Regional Service Center. Amy was so much fun to photograph! I admire how hard she works and all that she has accomplished. It was truly inspiring to hear her talk about her passions!

I was hired by Secret Penguin to take portraits for this fun project for Dundee Bank to highlight some of the businesses that bank with them. I had a great time meeting everyone and working on this project with their amazing team!

I’ve been getting my haircut at Alliance Barbershop and Supply for a couple of years now and really love it there. The two barbers Jeremy and Jamal are hilarious and the atmosphere is always positive and fun. Not only are they great people but they are talented barbers. The interior of the space is beautiful with a lot of natural light and there is a nice touch of vintage memorabilia including their chairs. If you’re in the Omaha Nebraska area I highly recommend them!
